About The Work

“108 Bonnō MURAKAMI.FLOWERS” by Takashi Murakami stands as a significant piece within the artist’s body of work, blending the digital with the traditional against the backdrop of Buddhist philosophy. This print is inspired by Murakami’s work at the Gagosian exhibition “An Arrow through History”. The piece features 108 pixelated flowers, each set against a uniquely colored background and exhibiting a distinct facial expression, culminating in a collection of 11,664 unique flower iconographies. This format not only underscores the vast spectrum of human emotions depicted through the 108 kleshas or mental states in Buddhism but also reflects Murakami’s exploration of the digital realm, reminiscent of his Murakami.Flowers NFT project.
