About The Work

This limited edition  sculpture is titled “Red Pumpkin” by Japanese contemporary artist Yayoi Kusama. It is made of painted cast resin and measures at 3.5 inches tall by 5.5 inches by 5.5 inches. The sculpture is inspired by the large scale, outdoor sculpture “Akakabocha (Red Pumpkin)” located on the island of Naoshima in Japan and was released there exclusively in 2019.

About the Artist

Yayoi Kusama (born March 22, 1929) is a Japanese contemporary artist based in Tokyo, Japan. Kusama is a multidisciplinary artist with works in painting, sculpture, film, and installations. A pioneer in the immersive art space, Kusama’s installations like the “Infinity Mirror Rooms” are highly sought after and are exhibited in galleries and museums around the world. She is most recognized for her use of polka dots and draws inspiration from nature; her works often depict pumpkins and flowers.
